FNZ is seeking a Senior Security Architect to join our Architecture Office, playing a critical role in protecting the platforms that support investment solutions for more than 20 million people worldwide. This is a senior, high-impact role for an architect who thrives in complex, high-accountability environments. You’ll operate at the intersection of strategy and delivery — shaping secure designs, influencing technology decisions, and working hands-on with engineering teams to ensure security architectures stand up in production. Reporting to the Head of Security Architecture, you’ll bring strong technical credibility, sound judgement, and the confidence to challenge constructively — helping FNZ balance risk, resilience, and delivery at scale.
What You’ll Be Doing
- You’ll be responsible for designing and embedding pragmatic, proportionate security architectures across FNZ’s products, platforms, and enterprise services, spanning cloud and on-premise environments.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Security Architecture & Design
- Designing scalable, practical security architectures that support secure product and platform delivery
- Leading secure design activities including threat modelling and security control selection
- Reviewing new initiatives and designs, identifying material risks and enabling sound, sustainable decisions
- Driving secure outcomes across areas such as cryptography, secrets management, infrastructure, and platform trust
- Engineering Partnership & Delivery
- Partnering closely with engineering, product, infrastructure, identity, and architecture teams to embed security early
- Working directly with delivery teams to understand requirements, assess trade-offs, and deliver workable solutions
- Translating ambiguous business and technical requirements into clear, risk-informed designs
- Standards, Governance & Influence
- Leading and contributing to security architecture governance forums and design authorities
- Defining and evolving security patterns, standards, reference architectures, and engineering guardrails
- Acting as a senior security voice in cross-functional forums, bringing clarity, pace, and strong judgement
- Supporting the secure adoption of new and emerging technologies, including AI systems where relevant
- Continuous Improvement
- Raising security architecture standards across teams and domains
- Contributing to the ongoing improvement of FNZ’s security architecture practices, governance, and engagement models
What We’re Looking For
You’ll be an experienced security architect with the credibility to influence senior stakeholders and the practical mindset to deliver solutions that work in real-world engineering environments.
Key Skills And Experience
- Significant experience in security architecture across enterprise, product, and platform environments
- Strong experience across public cloud and on-premise estates
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences
- Proven ability to balance security, delivery pace, cost, and operational practicality
- Experience in architecture governance, design reviews, and decision forums
- Experience developing or operationalising security patterns, standards, and guardrails
- Deep expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Identity Security
- Product Security
- Infrastructure Security
- Securing AI Systems
What You’ll Need To Succeed At FNZ
- Strong judgement and confidence operating in ambiguity
- A delivery-focused mindset with the ability to turn principles into working solutions
- The confidence to challenge constructively and improve outcomes without slowing delivery
- Technical depth with the judgement to avoid over-engineering
- Resilience, self-direction, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A collaborative approach combined with personal impact and clarity
Why join FNZ?
- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
- Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
- The opportunity to work on meaningful, high-impact security and architecture challenges
