The objective of the First Line Risk team is to execute effective risk and compliance management using the tools set out in the Risk Management Framework that enable the business to identify, assess, control and monitor compliance risk. The First Line Risk and Control team should aim to manage risk within the appetite of the business, our clients, and regulators.

This role has been created in order to significantly influence key areas including but not limited to operations, information technology, procurement, human resources, and Risk. The Head of Operational Resilience & Continuity will be accountable for ensuring key components of the framework are delivered, working closely with functions across the organisation, enabling arrangements for managing operational resilience and that appropriate measures are in place to meet regulatory obligations.

Specific Role Responsibilities

  • Accountable for embedding operational resilience & continuity across the organization, the candidate will be the point of contact for implementation of operational resilience & continuity, as FNZ develops and implements the Framework and Plan.
  • Running the day-to-day operations of the operational resilience team, related to FNZ Important Business Services, understanding service and resource mapping, control performance and seeking to learn lessons from any vulnerabilities, issues, or incidents to feed into the overall resilience framework and plan.

Other Skills Required Include

  • Manage the end-to-end business process mapping of FNZ key services, and mapping of their business processes to underpinning resources (people, facilities, technology and third parties).
  • Define and manage impact tolerances through engagement with required key stakeholders.
  • Define and manage testing of scenarios and on-going test planning.
  • Develop an Operational Policy, reflecting the required processes, procedures, and controls to ensure FNZ is prepared for and can meet regulatory requirements for operational resilience.
  • Identify risks to the continuity of business operations and services to clients through regular self and threat assessments.
  • Understand the potential impact of those risks to all stakeholders across the FNZ ecosystem and supply chain.
  • Collaborate with the Operational Risk team on identification and management of business continuity related risks.
  • Drive synergies with existing risk programs, and effective governance oversight of the Operational Resilience program.
  • Support execution of the Crisis Management and Business Continuity programs.
  • Provide meaningful challenge to the business to drive ownership and accountability of business continuity deliverables.
  • Drive training, awareness, and major event preparedness.
  • Provide inputs and reports to FNZ governance and Risk committees, Board, executive management, and regulatory bodies.

Functional Area Responsibilities

The role holder will leverage operational and resilience risk frameworks to validate the completeness and assessment of resilience risks and controls, including regular self-assessments, risk and control assessments and scenario analysis. Ensuring the suitability and readiness of Business Continuity arrangements, and that critical risks and threats are identified, appropriately understood, assessed, managed and monitored.

Experience Required

  • The candidate will understand operational resilience industry and framework requirements, possess awareness of the FNZ service offering and client base, be able to assist the business in determining the importance of these services and processes internally, and will understand the relationship to underpinning resources (e.g., Technology, People, Facilities and Third Parties).
  • Experienced Risk specialist with significant experience across complex organisations in a leadership capacity.
  • Strategic and commercial awareness with a good level of technological experience gained within a Risk management environment translating meaningful MI to senior management.
  • Ability to engage and motivate business wide stakeholders, adaptability to internal changes and an evolving external landscape.
  • Enquiring mind across a risk centric environment.
  • Resilient individual who is passionate about delivering value added solutions to the operational resilience model.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent professional experience; Master’s degree preferred in Business, Technology, Finance, and/or Organisational Resilience, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in Business Continuity / Operational Resilience (ideally in financial industry).
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in multiple roles.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage activities related to business impacting risks and operational resilience, including leadership, a sense of urgency and the ability to perform well under pressure and in conditions of uncertainty.
  • Ability to lead and influence decisions and actions of others, including internal business partners, external stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Ability to prioritize against many competing interests in an environment of constant change.
