A forward looking and exciting Fresh Produce business are looking for an ambitious, sales orientated and highly motivated individual to join their team in a Sales / Commercial or Trading capacity. Our client is looking for someone who will be willing to learn and grow in a Sales or Trading role, so this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to get a head start in a career that is never dull.
The UK company is relatively young (estb 2010) and was created to form the European fresh produce marketing arm of their South American partners. This is a strong relationship with the UK company establishing other global suppliers with the same quality and service ethics. This company has a great reputation and the advantage of being vertically integrated with top growers in South America. They are committed to strategic expansion and want to involve in mentoring and developing young talent into a purposeful and fulfilling career.
You will be assisting with the growth of existing business, developing new business accounts to include new product areas and new customers within the UK Retail and Non-retail markets. You will be working closely with the Fresh Team, constantly ensuring the actions that are being taken are in their best interest.
This is an opportunity for a person possibly currently in a junior position in Sales or can demonstrate a commercial know-how or entrepreneurial spirit and looking for their next step to really advance their career. You will be a fast learner, enthusiastic with a thirst to learn about all that matters in the world of Fresh Produce. Excellent communication skills, a people person and an insatiable drive to succeed are essential.
The Role: As a successful Trading / Sales Manager, your motivation should be about maintaining current customers and always looking at how to improve the offer and gain new customers. As a trader, you will be marketing the company’s own fresh produce to markets around the country (possibly globally) and also utilise your experience to introduce other products as opportunities arise. Building strong relationships with the markets and developing new contacts where possible is key. Working with international sources, ensuring good value and good quality produce is always a priority. Training and mentoring will be provided if/when needed.
The Ideal Candidate:
- You will need to have excellent negotiation skills with a resilient and “can do” attitude.
- You will need natural trading ability with a good commercial insight.
- Experience in fresh produce will be a bonus but it’s not essential.
- You must have a passion for business and use this to build your knowledge of the produce industry.
- Language skills are advantageous.
Salary and bonus will be competitive and levelled at attracting the best.
