FMH Conveyors International Ltd is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Field Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair conveyor systems and associated material handling equipment at customer sites throughout the UK and internationally.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring our equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and test conveyor systems and material handling equipment at customer facilities.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and service inspections.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and operational faults and carry out effective repairs.
  • Respond to customer breakdowns and provide emergency support when required.
  • Ensure all service work is completed in accordance with company procedures and health and safety regulations.
  • Produce accurate service reports, maintenance records, and site documentation.
  • Liaise professionally with customers, site personnel, and internal departments to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide technical advice and operator training to customers as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades, replacement parts, and additional service offerings.
  • Maintain company tools, service vehicles, and equipment in good working order.
  • Support factory acceptance testing and workshop activities when required.
  • Participate in an on-call rota and work flexible hours to meet customer requirements.

Qualifications and Experience Essential

  • Engineering qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with conveyors, automated systems, material handling equipment, or industrial machinery.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays and international travel.

Desirable

  • Experience with PLC-controlled systems and automation equipment.
  • Knowledge of motors, drives, sensors, pneumatics, and electrical control systems.
  • Health & Safety qualifications (e. g., IOSH, CSCS, IPAF, PASMA).
  • Experience within logistics, warehousing, parcel handling, or manufacturing environments.
