Are you into cars, hands-on work, and love seeing your efforts turn into something shiny and impressive? This could be the perfect job for you. FMGRS are looking for a motivated, detail-focused Paint Technician to join their busy workshop in Doncaster, DN2 4QR – and no, you don\’t need years of experience to get started., Training is delivered in the workplace and on block release at the Remit Automotive Academy in Derby. This means you will be required to stay in a hotel for 12 separate weeks (Mon – Fri) over the duration of the programme, which equals 4 weeks per year. All associated costs for training are met by the employer and there will be no cost to you. You will also be assigned a dedicated Development Coach who will visit you every 4-6 weeks either in the workplace or remotely via Microsoft Teams, giving 1-2-1 advice and guidance to help you achieve the following IMI qualifications:
Qualifications
- Vehicle Damage Paint Technician Level 3
- A genuine interest in cars and how they work
- Attention to detail – you\’ll need to spot the small stuff
- Willingness to learn – we\’ll teach you the rest
- A team player attitude with a good work ethic
- Ready to get your hands dirty and start a career you can be proud of
- Ability to undertake appropriate job preparation prior to commencing repair e.g. substrate surface preparation, paint volume calculation etc
- Ability to correctly identify the substrate materials to be refinished e.g. plastic, steel, aluminium etc
- Ability to interpret relevant technical data and methods to create paint manufacturers specified application
- Ability to use refinishing materials following paint manufacturer specifications to reinstate vehicle finish back to high quality
- Ability to identify and operate the correct repair tools, equipment and devices used in the process e.g mixing systems, paint booths, UV lamps and spray equipment, GCSE or equivalent in: English/ Maths (grade 4 or C) Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know
