We're looking for an experienced Stakeholder & Communications Manager to join our growing team and lead communications and stakeholder engagement for a major infrastructure project.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys building meaningful relationships and can confidently represent a high‑profile project with local communities, stakeholders, media and industry partners.
Reporting to the Senior Project Director, you'll develop and deliver a comprehensive stakeholder engagement and communications strategy, supporting the project from development through to completion.
What you'll be doing
Communications & Media
- Develop, deliver and maintain the project's Communications and Media Strategy and associated activity plans.
- Lead proactive and reactive media relations, including drafting press releases and responding to media enquiries.
- Produce engaging project communications including newsletters, website content and social media.
- Manage the project website and work alongside external agencies to create high‑quality communications materials.
- Plan and deliver a range of engagement events including public exhibitions, community open days, press briefings, supplier events and skills initiatives.
- Monitor media coverage across local, national and trade publications, providing regular updates to the project team.
- Coordinate advertising campaigns to support statutory and non‑statutory project activities.
- Manage sponsorship opportunities and oversee communications delivered by external agencies.
Stakeholder & Community Engagement
- Develop and implement the project's Stakeholder Engagement Strategy.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, elected representatives, businesses and key stakeholders.
- Maintain stakeholder databases and engagement records, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance.
- Act as the primary point of contact for public enquiries, ensuring timely, professional and consistent responses.
- Coordinate consultation activities and produce mandatory consultation reports and engagement documentation.
- Support delivery of the project's Supply Chain Plan through stakeholder and business engagement.
- Lead skills and education initiatives, working with schools, colleges and the project's Skills Liaison Officer to create meaningful local opportunities.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the UK Stakeholder & Communications team to ensure consistency across regional projects.
- Represent the project and wider business at industry, community and networking events where appropriate.
About you
We're looking for someone with proven experience delivering communications and stakeholder engagement on major infrastructure or construction projects, ideally within the energy, utilities or renewables sector.
You’ll also bring:
- Experience acting as the public face of major projects, building trusted relationships with communities and elected representatives.
- Strong media relations experience and the ability to identify positive PR opportunities.
- Excellent copywriting skills across a range of channels including press releases, newsletters, websites and stakeholder communications.
- Knowledge of the UK planning process and stakeholder consultation requirements for major infrastructure projects.
- An understanding of renewable energy, sustainability and the wider infrastructure sector.
- Outstanding organisation and project management skills.
- Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders, contractors and members of the public, including handling challenging conversations professionally.
- Experience planning and delivering public engagement events.
- Experience delivering skills, education and supply chain engagement initiatives.
- The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and adapt in a dynamic project environment.
- A qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related discipline would be advantageous.
