We are currently recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy and highly automated production environment within the FMCG / food manufacturing sector. This is a permanent night shift position offering the opportunity to work with modern automated equipment while developing your technical skills within a supportive engineering team.
The Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of production by maintaining, troubleshooting and improving automated machinery and conveyor systems. You will work closely with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime and maximise machine efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and carry out effective fault finding and repairs
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery and equipment
- Support installation, testing and commissioning of new equipment
- Provide feedback to production teams regarding downtime and corrective actions
- Work collaboratively with production to improve processes and machine performance
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Identify inefficiencies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety and food safety standards
- Support the site’s commitment to maintaining audit-ready standards
Skills & Experience
- Multi-skilled engineer with electrical and/or mechanical qualifications (City & Guilds, BTEC Level 3 or equivalent)
- A recognised engineering apprenticeship would be advantageous
- Minimum 3 years’ experience within an automated production or manufacturing environment
- Experience in FMCG, food manufacturing, brewery, or similar fast-paced industry is desirable
- Strong fault-finding skills and ability to work independently
- Good communication skills and a proactive, self-motivated approach
- Basic IT literacy
