We are seeking a strategic HR leader to join the executive team and shape a future-focused people strategy aligned with organisational values and long-term objectives. This role will champion culture, capability, and workforce transformation to drive performance and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the organisation’s people and culture strategy.
  • Advise the leadership team and board on all people-related matters, including workforce planning, organisational capability, succession, and leadership development.
  • Lead long-term workforce planning aligned to strategic goals and future skill needs.
  • Design and implement succession planning frameworks and leadership pipelines.
  • Champion a high-performance, inclusive, and values-driven culture.
  • Drive organisational change and transformation through people-centred strategies.
  • Utilise people analytics to influence decisions and forecast trends and risks.
  • Represent the organisation externally as an employer brand ambassador.
  • Build strong relationships with trade unions and union representatives.
  • Oversee talent acquisition, development, reward, and engagement at a strategic level.
  • Ensure governance, legal compliance, and ethical HR practices.
  • Embed DEI, wellbeing, and employee voice throughout the organisation.
  • Coach leadership and management to enable strong people management and high performance.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum CIPD Level 5 or equivalent degree.
  • Relevant Employment Law qualification.

  • Proven track record as a senior HR leader or People Director in an industrial, complex, or high-growth environment.
  • Experience influencing at board and executive level.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to inspire and drive transformational change.
  • Demonstrable experience in a unionised environment.
  • Expertise in organisational design, culture shaping, and future workforce strategy.
  • Commercial and strategic thinker with high emotional intelligence and integrity.
  • Experience managing absenteeism and retention effectively.
  • Excellent understanding of data, people analytics, and business metrics.
