Financial Controller in Milton Keynes

Financial Controller in Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes Full-Time On-site
FMC Talent

You’ve built a strong finance career, but you don’t want your next move to be all about reporting what’s already happened. You want to be closer to the decisions, helping senior leaders understand the numbers and using them to shape where the business goes next.

As Financial Controller, you’ll take ownership of day-to-day financial operations, turning financial data into clear insight and analysis that supports business decisions. You’ll strengthen financial controls, develop the finance team and work closely with the CFO and senior management.

This is a strong next step for an experienced, hands-on finance professional who enjoys combining technical accounting with commercial thinking. You’ll broaden your influence, support a growing healthcare business and help build the systems and processes it needs for its next stage of growth.

Who’s it for and what’s in it for you?

Bringing an expert clinical team together with next-generation imaging technology, this is exactly what our client are bringing to the market. And not only this, their key goal is to make access to this level of healthcare as quick and easy as possible. They understand the stress that can come from waiting for a screening, so they want the UK to have early access to excellent facilities.

Currently a small team, this is a business with the mindset and the desire to expand much further than they currently lie; this is your opportunity to join a company with the potential for a meteoric rise. And with that comes the opportunity for quick progression, as well as that feel good factor that comes from bringing excellent diagnostic technology to communities across the country.

What will your day to day look like?

You’ll oversee the day-to-day financial operations of a growing, multi-entity healthcare business, reporting to the CEO and CFO. Based in Milton Keynes, you’ll combine ownership of financial reporting and controls with hands-on team management and commercial analysis.

You will also be:

  • Preparing and overseeing monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and variance analysis.
  • Delivering financial reporting by company, diagnostic centre, contract and business unit.
  • Managing month-end close, reconciliations, intercompany transactions and financial controls.
  • Overseeing accounts payable, receivable, credit control, payroll and working capital.
  • Managing and developing two Accounts Assistants.
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and investment appraisals.
  • Ensuring VAT, statutory reporting, audit and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve profitability, streamline processes and automate financial reporting.
  • Working closely with the CFO and operational teams to improve financial performance and support business growth.

This role will suit you if you…

  • Are a qualified accountant holding ACA, ACCA or CIMA accreditation.
  • Bring strong, hands-on financial control experience, ideally within a growing SME or multi-entity business.
  • Have excellent technical accounting skills and a thorough understanding of financial reporting and controls.
  • Are confident managing day-to-day finance operations alongside budgeting, forecasting and commercial analysis.
  • Can lead and develop a finance team while maintaining accurate, timely reporting.
  • Can translate complex financial data into clear recommendations.
  • Are proficient in accounting systems, Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Ideally have experience with Xero, Power BI and process automation.
  • Thrive in a growing business and enjoy improving processes while working closely with senior management and operational teams.
