Contracts Manager – Engineering Operations Location: Warrington Sector: Facilities Management / Building Services Employment: Permanent, Full-Time The Opportunity FM Search & Select are working on behalf of a leading Facilities Management provider to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager for their Warrington operation. This is a key operational position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day delivery of the engineering function, including the Labour Department Helpdesk, engineering resource planning and the effective allocation of engineers across planned and reactive works. Our client is specifically looking for someone who has progressed from a strong electrical and technical engineering background into a supervisory, management or contracts-focused position. The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with excellent people and operational management skills, ensuring engineering resources are effectively managed, contractual service levels are achieved and customers receive a high standard of service. Key Responsibilities * Manage the daily operation of the Labour Department Helpdesk and engineering resource planning. * Allocate engineers to reactive and planned works, ensuring contractual service levels are achieved. * Monitor work in progress, maintenance schedules and fixed-price works to ensure timely completion. * Maintain accurate records within the Corrigo system, including job updates, engineer information and management reports. * Provide technical support and guidance to engineers. * Assist engineers with tablet, system and job-management queries where required. * Manage engineer availability, including holidays, overtime, on-call rotas, sickness and timesheet approval. * Support recruitment, inductions, training, appraisals and the ongoing development of engineering staff and apprentices. * Liaise with customers and internal departments to ensure effective communication and efficient utilisation of engineering resources. * Produce operational and performance reports, including overtime and departmental KPI reporting. * Monitor engineering performance and support the team in achieving contractual requirements. * Drive continuous improvement across departmental processes, systems and procedures. * Ensure compliance with company policies and all relevant Health & Safety, quality, environmental and legal requirements. Skills & Experience Required Our client is looking for someone with: * A strong electrical and technical engineering background – essential. * Previous hands-on engineering experience within Facilities Management, Building Services, M&E or a similar technical environment. * Experience supervising or managing engineering teams, including workload allocation, performance support and staff development. * Strong understanding of engineering operations and planned and reactive maintenance. * Experience coordinating and planning engineering resources. * The technical knowledge and confidence to provide support and guidance to engineers. * Strong customer and stakeholder management skills. * Experience monitoring workloads, performance, KPIs and contractual service levels. * Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. * Experience using CAFM/job-management systems * A proactive approach to improving processes, systems and operational delivery. Qualifications * Recognised technical apprenticeship or qualification within an engineering discipline. * An electrical background/qualification is required for this position. * Additional Facilities Management, Health & Safety or management qualifications would be advantageous.
