General Manager – Small Works

Location: Nationwide (UK travel required) Salary: Excellent Salary + Car Allowance + Comprehensive Benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced commercial leader to take ownership of a nationwide Small Works business within one of the UK's leading construction and facilities management organisations.

This is a high-profile leadership role with full responsibility for the commercial success, operational performance and strategic growth of a diverse Small Works portfolio.

We are particularly keen to speak with experienced Commercial Managers, Senior Commercial Managers, Estimating Managers and Contracts Managers who are looking to progress into a General Manager position.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will drive financial performance, maximise profitability, oversee operational delivery and lead high-performing teams across multiple projects nationwide.

The Role

As General Manager, you will

  • Lead the overall commercial and operational performance of the Small Works business.
  • Drive revenue growth, profitability, margin improvement and cash generation.
  • Develop and implement business strategies to achieve sustainable growth.
  • Provide commercial leadership across a varied portfolio of projects.
  • Ensure robust commercial governance, risk management and contractual compliance.
  • Lead and develop Project Managers, Commercial teams and operational staff.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
  • Oversee forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting and project performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and business performance.
  • Champion a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.

About You

We're looking for an ambitious leader with

  • Significant experience within Commercial Management, Estimating, Contracts Management or Operational Management.
  • A strong background within Construction, Facilities Management or Building Services.
  • Proven experience managing commercial performance, budgets and project profitability.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience developing and managing successful teams.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience managing multiple projects within a fast-paced environment.
  • A track record of driving business growth and improving financial performance.
