FM Conway is currently looking for experienced Planer Operators to join our dynamic Surfacing division. You will play a key role in preparing road surfaces for resurfacing or repair works. As a Planer Operator you will be responsible for operating Wirtgen Milling Machines, setting up the equipment, monitoring cutting depth and surface smoothness, and working to the correct depths as needed to meet project specifications. This is a full time, permanent position, working both days and nights, based out of Dartford, Kent.
The duties of the Planer Operator will include:
-Carrying out road planing operations as directed by the Supervisor, following the planned works programme
Carry out daily maintenance on our milling machines to keep them in top working condition
-Delivering high-quality surfacing outputs that meet defined company standards and specifications
-Following and promoting safe working practices in line with health and safety regulations
-Identifying and communicating necessary resources (labour, materials, equipment) to ensure efficient and timely completion of work targets
– Working as part of a team by interacting with colleagues and customers in a courteous and professional manner
-Participating in ongoing professional development and training as required to enhance skills and knowledge
What skills and experience do you need?
We are looking for an experienced Planer Operators with extensive experience within the highways and surfacing industry, demonstrating a solid understanding of operating Wirtgen Milling Machines and a thorough understanding of relevant Health & Safety legislation to ensure safe and compliant working practices. You will hold a valid CSCS blue card and Plant Operator tickets for the relevant machinery such as MPQC. A full UK driving licence is also essential. Additionally, a NVQ Level 2 or above in Roadbuilding – Planing (Machine) is essential for this position.
