FM Conway is recruiting for a passionate and driven Manufacturing Operative Apprentice to join our dynamic Aggregate and Asphalt division! This is a fantastic opportunity to combine hands-on training with a nationally recognised Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative apprenticeship. You’ll gain the skills to become a multi-talented team member, from operating high-tech asphalt plants and mobile machinery to managing key weighbridge operations. This is a permanent, full time position based from our Erith depot.

If your application is successful, you must be available to attend our assessment day, which will take place on Friday, 25th July at our Erith depot.

The duties of the Manufacturing Operative Apprentice role will include:

  • Learning to safely and efficiently operate the asphalt plant, loading shovel and other mobile equipment such as telehandlers and skidsteers
  • Using manufacturing techniques from your training to maximise internal systems, ensuring smooth and accurate order processing
  • Conducting routine inspections and basic maintenance on plant and machinery, reporting defects accurately
  • Committing to your Manufacturing Operative apprenticeship and completing all required qualifications, attending mandatory events and continuously developing knowledge, skills and behaviours
  • Following all company HSE procedures and maintaining high standards at all times
  • Maintaining strong communication with colleagues and building positive working relationships

What skills and experience do you need?

We’re looking for friendly, motivated individuals who enjoy working with others and aren’t afraid to take initiative. You should have at least 4 GCSEs at Grade E/2 or equivalent, including Maths, English, and Science. A Levels in Science or Engineering would be a bonus, and a full UK driving licence is highly desirable.
