FM Conway is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Welfare Unit Fitter to join our Plant and Workshop Division. In this role, you will be responsible for the repair, servicing, and refurbishment of portable welfare units. You'll ensure all units are maintained to the highest mechanical and electrical standards, meeting safety requirements and being fully prepared for hire or deployment. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Sevenoaks, Kent.
The duties of the Welfare Unit Fitter will include:
- Performing scheduled maintenance, servicing, and general repairs on welfare units, covering both interior and exterior components
- Inspecting, testing, and repairing electrical systems, including generators, lighting, and heating units, ensuring full functionality and compliance
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime
- Restoring welfare units to the required standard through repair, replacement, and finishing work, ensuring safety and presentability
- Cleaning, painting, and carrying out quality control checks to ensure all units are fully operational and ready for immediate hire
- Maintaining clear and detailed documentation of all inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities
- Working safely and responsibly at all times, following company policies and industry health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment
What skills and experience do you need?
The ideal Welfare Unit Fitter will have strong mechanical fitting and maintenance experience, with the ability to efficiently diagnose and resolve both mechanical and electrical faults. Competency in working with electrical systems, including testing and minor installations is essential, while experience with welding and light fabrication is desirable. A solid understanding of portable welfare units, generators, and heating systems will be highly beneficial. A full UK driving licence is required for this role.
