FM Conway are currently recruiting Highways Maintenance Operative Apprentices to join our Term Maintenance Division, working on a number of key projects based in Central London. You will work in a supported learning environment to develop the skills and knowledge required to complete a Level 2 Highways Maintenance Operative qualification. As part of the Term Maintenance team, you will gain hands‑on experience across a range of construction and highways maintenance activities. This is a full‑time, permanent position based in Central London. We will be hosting a Recruitment Day on Tuesday 4th August 2026 in London, so if you are shortlisted, you would need to be available for this day.

Duties of the role will include:

  • Pursuing your studies to gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours of a highway’s maintenance operative
  • Being responsible for the successful completion of your apprenticeship and gaining work related qualifications including your End Point Assessment
  • Working with the site team to deliver works required efficiently and to a safe standard
  • Working in conjunction with site team to ensure that all tools and equipment are looked after, stored safely and securely and that any defects are reported to your manager
  • Reporting any incidents, accidents or points of concern to your line manager or the site management
  • Working as part of a team on site as required and take instructions from site management

What skills and experience do you need?

As a Highways Maintenance Operative Apprentice, you will ideally have a grade 4 and above in both Maths and English GCSE. You will be reliable, hardworking and have a genuine interest in the construction industry. Good communication and the ability to follow instructions is also required for this role.
