Are you ready to trade your job for a journey? Become a FlyMate! Passion, excitement & global collaboration are all core to what it means to be a FlyMate. At Flywire, we’re on a mission to deliver the world’s most important and complex payments. We use our Flywire Advantage - the combination of our next-gen payments platform, proprietary payment network and vertical specific software, to help our clients get paid, and help their customers pay with ease - no matter where they are in the world.
Who we are: Flywire is a global payments enablement and software company, founded a decade ago to solve high-stakes, high-value payments in education, using modern technology. Today, we’ve digitized payments for more than 3,300+ global clients across education, healthcare, travel & B2B, covering more than 240 countries and territories and supporting over 140 currencies. And, we’re just getting started!
With over 1000+ global FlyMates, representing more than 40 nationalities, and in 14 offices world-wide, we’re looking for FlyMates to join the next stage of our journey as we continue to grow.
Are you ready to keep the world's money moving? At Flywire, our Payments Platform processes billions of dollars across 240+ countries — and when something goes wrong, payers can't pay, clients can't get paid, and the business stops. That's where Application Support comes in. We are the team that keeps the platform running: investigating production issues, partnering with Engineering to fix root causes, and turning recurring pain into permanent improvements.
We are looking for Fly-terns (4º year students) in Valencia to join the Application Support team this summer. You won't just be "shadowing" — you'll be working on real production issues and building tooling that makes our team faster, smarter, and more proactive.
The Role: Project-Driven & Supported
As a Fly-tern in the Technical Support Engineering group, you will be embedded within our team and participate in our day-to-day rituals — triage, ticket reviews, incident handling — while focusing on a specific, high-impact project designed for your journey at Flywire.
To ensure you grow and succeed, you will have a dedicated support system:
- A Mentor: A senior Technical Support Engineer for day-to-day guidance, pair-ticket solutioning, and reviews.
- A Manager: To support your professional growth, provide feedback, and help you navigate the Flywire culture.
What You'll Work On: TSE sits at the intersection of Institutional clients and Product & Engineering, so your project can dive deep into very different technical areas. Possible domains include:
- Support Tooling & Automation: Building internal tools that reduce manual work — auto-triage scripts, ticket enrichers, or self-service playbooks.
- Observability & Insights: Designing dashboards and alerts on top of supported product data (Sumo Logic, Jira, MySQL, Honeycomb) to surface recurring issues, escalation patterns, or other functional issues.
- AI-Augmented Support: Helping us push the boundaries of how TSE uses AI — from investigation agents, AI-assisted ticket categorization, and knowledge base generation from past resolutions.
- Root-Cause Engineering: Pairing with the team on a recurring class of production issues — from inconsistencies in the process to collaboration with other teams.
AI-Augmented Engineering: TSE along with other support teams is one of the most AI-forward teams at Flywire. As an intern, you will learn to leverage cutting-edge AI tools like Cursor, Claude, Gemini, and Notebook LM to investigate issues faster, draft playbooks, query logs, and build internal process automations. We treat AI as a teammate, and we'll teach you how to get the most out of it.
Qualifications: Here's What We're Looking For:
- Current student in the 4th year of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, or Data Science. We highly value candidates from Double Degrees in Mathematics and Informatics Engineering, as well as specialized degrees in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or Informatics Engineering.
- Tech Foundations: Comfortable with SQL and at least one scripting language (Python, Ruby, JavaScript). Curiosity about how distributed systems, APIs, and databases behave in production is more important than years of experience.
- The Support Mindset: You enjoy debugging more than greenfield coding. You like asking "why is this happening?" until you reach the real answer, and you care about both the technical fix and the user on the other side of the ticket.
- Communication: Fluency in English both verbal and written to not only work with clients but also collaborate with our global teams, partner with Engineering, and write clear, empathetic responses to internal and external stakeholders.
- Bonus: any exposure to FinTech, payments, observability tools (Sumo Logic, Honeycomb), or ticketing systems (Zendesk) will be appreciated.
Our Tech Stack: Platforms we support: Java (Spring Boot), Good understanding of SaaS - Web applications, HTTP / SFTP protocols, and Database design. Observability & Tooling: Sumo Logic, Jira, GitLab CI, Honeycomb. AI & Tools: Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini, Notebook LM.
What We Offer:
- Competitive Monthly Stipend: Based on UK’s local market standards.
- Flexible June Start: We prioritize your academic calendar; your start date is adaptable.
- London Office Culture: Work from our office with a vibrant community of FlyMates.
- Global Showcase: Present your project results to engineering and operations leaders across the globe.
- Career Growth: Successful Fly-terns are our first priority for full-time Associate roles after graduation.
