THE ROLE
We are looking for a Service Manager to join our dynamic team at Nexus. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day delivery of IT services across the school, ensuring staff and students receive a reliable, responsive and high-quality IT service.
Working closely with one other engineer, you will act as the main point of contact for IT service delivery, managing priorities, incidents and requests while also providing hands-on technical support where required. You will work closely with school leadership and staff to understand their needs, resolve issues effectively and ensure IT systems support the wider aims of the school.
The role will suit someone who is organised, proactive and customer focused, with the technical understanding and communication skills to manage a broad range of IT services in a busy school environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of IT services across the school, ensuring issues and requests are prioritised and resolved effectively.
- Work closely with the school engineer to coordinate workload and provide technical support and escalation where required.
- Provide hands-on support to staff and students across hardware, software, networks and Microsoft 365.
- Monitor and maintain the school's IT systems, infrastructure and devices to ensure reliability and availability.
- Liaise with external IT suppliers and service providers to resolve issues and support ongoing services.
- Support the implementation of cyber security, data protection and safeguarding requirements.
- Maintain accurate IT documentation, asset records and service procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve IT services and support technology projects and upgrades.
- Communicate clearly with staff and school leadership regarding IT issues, planned maintenance and service improvements.
- Take ownership of IT issues through to resolution, ensuring a professional and responsive service.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in an IT support, service management or technical leadership role.
- Experience working within a school or education environment.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows, networking and end-user devices.
- Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra ID or Intune experience.
- Experience with Active Directory, Windows Server and network infrastructure.
- Experience with Google workspace and administration
- Experience supporting classroom technology and education-specific systems.
- Experience managing IT suppliers, assets and technology projects.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve and escalate technical issues effectively.
- Experience managing priorities and coordinating the work of a small IT team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to support non-technical users.
- Organised, proactive and able to work independently.
- Good understanding of cyber security, data protection and information security.
- Ability to work effectively with staff, leadership and external IT suppliers.
- Commitment to providing a reliable, professional and user-focused IT service.
- Relevant IT qualifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA or ITIL.
