We are partnering with an established European direct lending platform to appoint a Vice President within its Private Credit Management team. The role combines ownership of a leveraged loan portfolio with responsibility for leading follow-on transactions, managing borrower relationships and generating incremental revenue.
THE PLATFORM
Our client is a specialist private debt manager within a broader financial institution, with over €3bn in assets under management a. The platform has originated approximately €9bn across more than 300 portfolio companies, with its latest institutional fund closing materially ahead of target.
The strategy focuses on senior secured and flexible capital solutions for lower mid-market businesses across the UK, Ireland and Northern Europe. It covers both sponsor-backed and sponsorless transactions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take ownership of a portfolio of leveraged credits, overseeing financial performance, covenant compliance, forecasting and downside risk.
- Lead follow-on transactions, including acquisition facilities, incremental financings, recapitalisations, amendments and refinancings.
- Present credit recommendations to investment committee, providing clear assessments of risks, mitigants and proposed actions.
- Own relationships with private equity sponsors, management teams and advisers throughout the investment lifecycle.
- Lead the management of underperforming investments, coordinating remedial actions, stakeholder negotiations and restructuring situations.
- Identify opportunities to deploy additional capital and generate incremental revenue across existing borrower relationships.
- Partner with origination colleagues on transaction structure, loan documentation and lender protections.
- Mentor junior colleagues, review credit work and contribute to the development of the team’s portfolio management processes.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Relevant experience in private credit, direct lending, leveraged finance, restructuring or debt advisory, with the judgement and execution capability expected at Vice President level.
- Proven ability to independently manage borrower relationships and lead complex credit transactions.
- Strong financial modelling, credit analysis, structuring and loan documentation skills across senior secured and unitranche financings.
- Hands-on experience managing investments post-completion, including credits requiring active intervention.
- Commercial judgement and a track record of identifying follow-on financing or revenue opportunities within existing relationships.
- Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and presenting recommendations to investment committees.
- Experience supporting junior colleagues within a lean, hands-on environment.
- An additional European language would be advantageous but is not essential.
