A NOTE ON EMPLOYMENT STRUCTURE

This role is employed by Flylane Ltd, our current UK entity that's on its way to becoming the number 1 AI company in education. We are in the process of launching a new company, currently in stealth, which will become the employing entity once it launches. You will be part of that transition from day one and will know more about it than almost anyone outside the founding team.

THE HONEST VERSION OF THIS JOB

Our CEO is a fast-moving, internationally based founder who travels constantly, thinks quickly, and has high standards across the board. This role supports both his professional and personal life, including working closely with his wife. Both of them are demanding in the best sense: they know exactly what good looks like and will notice immediately when it falls short. We are not looking for a career PA who is content doing this forever. We want someone who is genuinely excellent at the fundamentals right now - meticulous, warm, discreet, calm under pressure - but who has the raw intelligence and ambition to grow into managing a real part of the business over time. That path is real. But you earn it by first being exceptional at the basics. Two previous people in this role were let go - one for lacking proactivity, one for lacking the sharpness the role requires. We are being upfront about this because we would rather attract fewer, better-matched candidates than waste anyone's time. If you need to be told what to do, or if fast-paced, high-expectation environments make you uncomfortable, this is not the right fit. If you are the person who had already identified three problems and drafted solutions before your manager finished explaining one, read on.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Personal and family support - travel, logistics, and day-to-day coordination for the CEO and his family. Handling requests from his wife with the same care and professionalism as those from him.
  • Calendar and schedule ownership - managing a complex, multi-timezone diary. Anticipating clashes, preparing the CEO for every meeting, and ensuring all commitments are tracked and followed through.
  • Communications - drafting correspondence, following up on commitments, and representing the CEO professionally. Trusted to speak in his voice when he cannot.
  • AI-powered execution - daily, habitual use of ChatGPT, Claude, and other tools for research, drafting, summarising, and planning. This will be tested concretely during the process, not just asked about.
  • Financial tracking - monitoring expenses, flagging payments due, maintaining clear records. Comfortable with numbers and detail.
  • Over time: business responsibilities - as trust builds, you will take on a defined area of the business to own. This is the intended trajectory, not a vague promise.

WHAT WE NEED

  • Genuine intellectual sharpness - you pick things up fast, connect dots others miss, think clearly under pressure. This is the most important thing on this list.
  • 2+ years as a PA, EA, or in a role with significant personal and executive support responsibilities.
  • Excellent English, written and spoken, to a high professional standard.
  • Warmth and patience alongside the ability to be quietly assertive.
  • Daily, habitual use of AI tools.
  • Comfort with a flexible schedule, including occasional Saturday work.
  • Extreme reliability and attention to detail.
  • Discretion and emotional intelligence.
  • Ambition - you want to grow, and you have the horsepower to do so.
  • Right to work in the UK, based in London or Greater London.
  • Highly desirable: Russian language - weighted heavily in shortlisting (but not a dealbreaker if you don't speak Russian).
  • Experience supporting a principal with both business and personal responsibilities.

THE DETAILS

  • Salary: £36,000/year (£3,000/month)
  • Employment: Full-time, PAYE through Flylane Ltd
  • Location: London or Greater London
  • Hours: Full-time, flexible. Occasional Saturday work required.

INTERVIEW PROCESS

  • Initial screening with our COO (30 min)
  • CEO interview with Alex (45 min)
  • Test assignment (48-hour turnaround)
  • Final interview with Alex and Maria (30 min)
  • Reference check

WHY NOW

We are at an inflection point, launching something new. The person who joins now and proves themselves will grow into something considerably more significant. Your trajectory here is limited only by what you can do.

HOW TO APPLY

Send your CV to alison@educate-online.org and, in the body of the email, answer this in no more than 200 words: "Describe a situation where you identified a problem your boss did not know existed and resolved it before they found out." Note whether you speak Russian. Applications without this will not be reviewed.
