Title:Senior / Lead Asset Verification Engineer β Plant Asset Verification (Kemsley, UK)
Day Rate:Β£220-Β£250/day (contract)
Contract Duration:6 months (full-time, on-site, with some office-based data/SAP work)

Role overview
Senior/lead engineer responsible for leading a team of surveyors on a 6-month full-plant physical asset verification and SAP reconciliation project. You will act as technical lead on asset classification, hierarchy, and data quality, and be a key interface between site operations and the project manager.
Key responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day technical delivery of the asset verification team (junior & mid-level engineers).
- Define and refine survey methods, naming conventions, classification rules and tagging standards.
- Handle complex assets and systems: parent/child hierarchies, packages, skids, and control panels.
- Conduct higher-level condition assessments and highlight critical or safety-related issues for escalation.
- Review and validate survey data for completeness, consistency, and alignment with SAP / CAFM structures.
- Support SAP / data team with mapping of functional locations, equipment numbers, and class/characteristics.
- Troubleshoot discrepancies (asset found but not in SAP, SAP record not found on site, mismatched capacities/locations) and propose remediation actions.
- Coach and mentor junior staff on safe working, survey best practice, and data quality expectations.
- Contribute to weekly progress reporting (asset counts, issues, risks) and client technical sessions.
- Ensure adherence to site H&S rules, permits, and method statements; contribute to risk assessments.
Required skills & experience
- HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years' experience in industrial plants (paper, FMCG, process, utilities, or heavy industry) in maintenance, projects, reliability, or asset management roles.
- Demonstrable experience delivering asset surveys, asset tagging projects, or condition assessments at scale.
- Good working knowledge of SAP PM / EAM or similar asset management systems (functional locations, equipment, classes, characteristics).
- Strong data quality mindset and experience reviewing/approving survey outputs.
- Ability to lead small teams, allocate work, and monitor productivity.
Nice to have
- Experience in paper manufacturing, pulp & paper, or similar continuous process industries.
- Experience in FM/consultancy or external asset survey providers.
- Understanding of asset management best practice (e.g. ISO 55000 principles).
