Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Lift Service & Repair Engineer role based in the London Area, United Kingdom. The engineer will carry out scheduled maintenance, safety inspections, and fault diagnosis on lifts in commercial and residential properties, ensuring systems operate safely and reliably. Day-to-day tasks include responding to breakdowns, performing mechanical and electrical repairs, testing and commissioning equipment after service, and documenting all work in line with company and regulatory standards. The role also involves advising clients on recommended repairs or upgrades, supporting modernization projects, and working within agreed service schedules to minimize downtime. The engineer is expected to follow health and safety procedures, maintain tools and equipment, and collaborate with the wider engineering and operations team.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical and electrical engineering skills relevant to lift systems, including fault-finding, component replacement, and basic wiring and control systems.
  • Experience with lift maintenance and repair activities, such as routine servicing, safety inspections, modernization support, and commissioning of lifts.
  • Knowledge of applicable lift regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements within the United Kingdom, with a commitment to safe working practices.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, service manuals, and schematics, and use diagnostic tools and test equipment effectively.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills to interact with building owners, facilities managers, and occupants in a professional manner.
  • Strong organizational skills, including time management, accurate record-keeping, and reporting of work carried out and parts used.
  • Experience working independently on-site, with readiness to travel within the London Area and participate in call-out or shift rotations as required.
  • Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in lift engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Previous experience as a lift engineer or service technician in the lift or vertical transportation industry is highly beneficial.
  • A valid UK driver’s license and eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
