The role
We are seeking experienced and motivated Optical Engineers at Senior, Staff and Principal levels to join our team. These roles focus on optical engineering, free-space optics, product development, and laser development and control. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in electronics, extensive experience in optical systems, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of what is possible in optical computing.
Responsibilities (vary depending on level)
- Design, develop, and optimize optical systems for our next-generation OTPUs.
- Work on free-space optics projects, ensuring precise alignment and optimal performance.
- Develop and control laser systems, including diode lasers and fiber lasers, for integration into our products.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including software, hardware, and product development, to deliver cutting-edge optical solutions.
- Conduct rigorous testing and validation of optical components and systems to ensure reliability and performance.
- Lead product development efforts from concept through to production, ensuring alignment with technical and business goals.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex optical and electronic issues.
- Stay current with advancements in optical engineering, laser technology, and related fields.
- Contribute to technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in optical engineering or a related field.
- Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in free-space optics, laser development, and optical system design.
- Strong background in electronics and electrical engineering principles.
- Proven ability to develop and control laser systems for various applications.
- Proficiency in optical simulation and design software.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with product development and bringing optical products from concept to production.

- Competitive salary ranging from £100k+, depending on experience.
