As our Senior Sustainable Procurement Manager, you'll be at the forefront of this exciting journey, shaping how we work with suppliers globally to drive meaningful ESG progress and achieve our Net Zero ambitions. This isn't just about ticking boxes—it's about becoming a trusted sustainability champion, influencing strategic decisions across our international operations, and embedding responsible practices into every contract, partnership, and procurement decision we make.

Reporting to the Director of Supplier Risk and Assurance (SRA), the role will play an important part in driving the development and implementation of our sustainable procurement programme and overseeing its ongoing integration with Flutter’s Group-wide Strategy – the Positive Impact Plan.

This position is suited to an individual who can collaborate with regional procurement teams, business owners, suppliers, and the sustainability teams, to embed sustainable practices throughout our procurement practices and processes. The successful candidate will help build a culture of sustainable thinking, identifying opportunities to embed ESG considerations into category plans, sourcing events, risk and compliance approaches, contract and performance management, and broader supplier engagements. You will become a trusted advisor on sustainability matters to all procurement teams globally, working at both a strategic and tactical level, to help teams leverage ESG insights and embed robust due diligence processes that drive positive impacts and ensure progression in our relationships with reputable third parties.

What you'll do

  • Sustainable Procurement Strategy: Support the Director of SRA to build, activate, and evolve a sustainable procurement programme globally, ensuring that supplier sustainability objectives are factored into all applicable category plans, sourcing events, contracting and supplier performance management conversations.
  • Lead on projects and initiatives that aim to embed and/or advance Flutter’s efforts to manage ESG risk and deliver on business-wide net zero commitment (scope 3), through supplier direct engagement, policy advocacy, data and analysis, and strategic partnerships.
  • Analyse, and interpret relevant sustainability data, including Scope 3 emissions, to generate actionable insights that advise and support strategic business decisions that align with the business ambition to reach Net Zero.
  • Identify opportunities to evaluate suppliers' sustainability performance and drive progress, including leading supplier engagement on Scope 3 emission reduction action plans.
  • Work with global stakeholders to drive engagement of the Positive Impact Plan.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Develop and manage appropriate frameworks, processes, codes, processes and controls that enable procurement teams to assess, monitor and mitigate supplier ESG maturity and risk, and develop corrective action plans to support continuous improvement.
  • Work with Global Procurement Transformation Team (GPT) and regional procurement teams to develop and implement appropriate sustainability risk management programs, aligned to business goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with Group Sustainability and Regulatory Affairs team to stay informed about relevant ESG regulations, industry standards and practices related to procurement and support the preparation for, and reporting on, all applicable external discourses related to Supply Chain (e.g. CRSD, CSDD, Rating Agencies etc).
  • Work with regional procurement teams to ensure they are sufficiently able to manage compliance with applicable ESG laws, regulations and support them to develop and implement appropriate controls/service improvements where relevant to address compliance gaps and mitigate risks.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Support all Procurement disciplines (e.g. category planning, sourcing, and contract & performance management) in incorporating Sustainability requirements into their ongoing activities.
  • Proactively assess maturity of supplier sustainability activities across applicable categories, with key focus on carbon emissions reduction aligned to the business ambition to reach Net Zero.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives, stakeholder engagement and training.
  • Leverage key ESG insights data to identify areas for improvement, providing recommendations for targeted action plans and interventions.
  • Feed ESG insights into applicable forums and supplier business reviews.

Partner Engagement:

  • Engage with global procurement and business stakeholders to identify opportunities to promote sustainable procurement and risk management practices.
  • Set up and run working groups (where applicable) to support delivery of projects and programs of work and drive colleague engagement.
  • Provide guidance, training and support to all stakeholders.
  • Represent Flutter at applicable industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.

How you'll do it:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, procurement, sustainability, or a related field is preferred.
  • Extensive experience working in sustainability, including roles within the procurement and supply chain domains.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable supply chain practices and knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and compliance standards related to procurement activities (e.g. CSRD, CSDDD).

  • Knowledge of current and emerging technology solutions relevant to sustainable procurement management.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable procurement objectives to mitigate Scope 3 emissions impact.
  • Excellent presentation and influencing skills within the ability to effectively communicate to senior partners.
  • Proven experience working constructively with third party organisations (e.g. management consultancies; legal teams, auditors, carbon credit brokers).
  • Experience preparing ESG disclosures in accordance with specific criteria.
