The Frontier R&D team is part of Flutter UKI's Disruptive R&D function, focused on identifying and evaluating emerging technologies over a 12-36 month horizon. We move fast, prototype constantly, and work at the frontier of what's possible in betting, gaming, and entertainment technology. Our outputs inform strategic decisions and feed into the wider R&D pipeline.

As Research Graduate, you will be instrumental in identifying trends, synthesising research, and supporting the team's rapid prototyping activities. This is an exceptional opportunity for a curious, technically-minded graduate to develop their career at the cutting edge of technology innovation.

What you'll do:

  • Conducting technology horizon scanning to identify emerging trends, tools, and platforms relevant to betting and gaming
  • Researching and summarising academic papers, industry reports, and technical documentation
  • Supporting the Prototyping Engineer with technical feasibility assessments and experimental implementations
  • Creating research briefs and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Monitoring technology providers, startups, and research institutions for partnership opportunities
  • Contributing to prototype development using generative AI coding tools
  • Building and maintaining a knowledge base of emerging technologies and their potential applications
  • Assisting with demonstrations and stakeholder presentations
  • Evaluating and testing new AI tools, platforms, and services as they become available

What you'll need:

  • Recent graduate (within 2 years) in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related technical discipline
  • Strong analytical and research skills with ability to synthesise complex technical information
  • Foundational programming skills in at least one language (Python preferred)
  • Active user of generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, or similar) with genuine enthusiasm for AI technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to create clear, engaging presentations for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Intellectual curiosity and passion for emerging technology
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and take initiative

Desirable:

  • Coursework or projects involving machine learning, neural networks, or AI
  • Experience with data analysis or statistical methods
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms or web development
