Hybrid Permanent

We’re looking for an Enablement Director – Data to join us at Flutter. Flutter UK&I is evolving its technology foundations to support long-term growth, innovation, and operational excellence. At the heart of this evolution is Enablement 2.0 — reimagining core technology capabilities as long‑lived product organisations that power our customer‑facing tribes (Sports, Customer, Gaming) and provide critical services across the region and group. This role will be part of the Enablement SuperTribe leadership team.

As the Enablement Director – Data, reporting to the MD of Enablement, you will play a pivotal role in this transformation. You will lead a distributed team of 150–200 engineers and data specialists based across Europe, responsible for building and operating a world‑class Data Platform. Your mission is to deliver trusted, scalable data infrastructure that serves as the single source of truth for Flutter UK&I — and the foundation from which our teams unlock AI and data‑driven capabilities.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the Data Platform — establishing trusted, scalable, AI‑ready foundations built on technologies including Databricks and Redshift.
  • Build and lead a distributed, multi‑disciplinary team of 150–200 engineers and data specialists across European locations, designing, delivering, and operating internal data products with a focus on reliability, cost efficiency, and engineering productivity.
  • Partner with leaders across Product and Engineering in a "two‑in‑a‑box" model to ensure your platform roadmaps align with business priorities.
  • Define the data architecture and governance model that makes Flutter’s data AI‑ready — ensuring quality, accessibility, and the lineage needed to power machine learning and generative AI use cases safely and at scale.
  • Champion a "platform‑as‑a‑product" approach, focused on delivering capabilities that are leveraged across the organisation.
  • Drive key technical and architectural decisions for the data landscape, with a clear eye on the architectural choices that enable AI and ML adoption downstream.
  • Own the budget, workforce planning, and supplier management for your domains.
  • Actively contribute to the Enablement Leadership Team, shaping the evolution of our strategy, operating model, and culture.

How you’ll do it

  • Proven Technology Leader: A significant track record at a senior level leading Data Platform engineering in a complex, fast‑paced tech environment — ideally at scale, with distributed teams across multiple European locations.
  • Strategic Programme Delivery: Strong experience leading Data platform programmes from concept to value realisation, with a proven ability to deliver complex, multi‑year initiatives that unlock analytics and AI capabilities.
  • Technical Depth: Deep expertise in modern data platforms and data engineering — including hands‑on experience with technologies such as Databricks and Redshift — alongside strong data governance, cloud architecture, and ML‑enablement knowledge.
  • Platform Experience: You have successfully built and scaled central technology platforms, ideally shifting teams from a project to a product‑oriented operating model leveraging strategic platforms like Redshift and DataBricks.
  • Strategic Thinker: You can create a compelling vision that connects business needs with technology solutions and execute against it.
  • Exceptional People Leader: You are passionate about developing talent and have a proven ability to attract, retain, and grow top data engineers and leaders across distributed, multi‑site European teams.
  • Highly Collaborative: You build trust and influence at all levels and have a proven ability to work effectively in matrixed environments, particularly in a "two‑in‑a‑box" product and engineering structure.

What’s in it for you

  • Bonus scheme
  • Flexible holiday allowance
  • Enhanced pension scheme
  • Private healthcare
  • Life assurance
  • Income protection
  • £1,000 annual self‑development learning fund
  • Invest via the Flutter Sharesave Scheme
  • Enhanced parental leave

We’re committed to being an inclusive employer, and we encourage people from all backgrounds, ways of thinking and working to apply. You don’t need to meet every requirement listed to be considered. If you need any adjustments to make this role work for you, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
