Location – Leeds
We are looking for a passionate Backend QA Engineer who will bring new ideas, energy, and a proactive mentality to help set the standard for QA, both within the team and across the wider group.
Background: You will join a high-performing team of 5 Developers and 1 QA (this role). You\’ll help shape the evolution of gbp into a world-class platform, ensuring quality and stability across our fast-paced, multi-brand environment. You’ll work closely with engineers, product teams, and stakeholders across multiple locations to deliver reliable, high-quality backend services.
The Global Betting Platform (gbp) is Flutter’s flagship proprietary platform powering sports betting features at scale. It supports multiple brands across the group, generates 33% of total Sportsbook online revenue, and serves over 1.7 million active users.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and implement both manual and automated tests
- Ensure product requirements are testable and validated
- Provide insights into product quality and improvements to QA processes
- Support and collaborate with developers on quality-focused practices
- Contribute across the full development lifecycle
- Offer creative and pragmatic solutions to testing challenges
Technical Skills
What you’ll need:
- Proven QA experience in complex backend systems
- Strong automation and manual testing expertise
- Solid understanding of service-oriented architectures and APIs (REST)
- Experience with Java or similar languages
- Familiarity with test-driven development (e.g. BDD, ATDD)
- Experience with Git and CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Experience with build/config tools (e.g. CHEF) is a plus

- Proactively owns and drives all aspects of QA on behalf of the team
