We’re a VC-backed Oxford spin‑out (2022) transforming how fluorochemicals are made - developing safer, lower‑cost and more sustainable routes to materials used in Li‑ion batteries and agrochemicals. Based at ARC Oxford, we operate across cutting‑edge R&D, analytical, and pilot‑scale facilities.
A hands‑on role at the interface of synthetic inorganic chemistry and process scale‑up. You’ll help take new chemistry from lab to kg‑scale production, working with real pilot plant equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Support the scale‑up of synthetic inorganic and fluorination processes to kilogram‑plus scale
- Manufacture materials for internal validation, customer sampling, and downstream applications
- Perform quality control (QC) and stage‑gate analytical testing of inorganic and fluorinated materials
- Prepare samples and maintain accurate experimental and production records
- Operate and monitor pilot‑scale reactor systems (up to 100 L) and associated plant equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of process equipment
- Contribute to safe handling and scale‑up of reactive chemistries
- Support process safety reviews and risk assessments
- Act as a key interface between scale‑up and operations teams, including logistics and waste handling
- Degree (BSc / MChem / MSc) in Chemistry (preferably synthetic‑focused) or Chemical Engineering
- Hands‑on experience with bench or pilot‑scale chemical processes
- Experience working with reactor systems (e.g., jacketed vessels >10 L) or similar equipment
- Understanding of process safety considerations in chemical scale‑up
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently and within a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills
- Right to live and work in the UK
- Exposure to scale‑up, pilot plant, or manufacturing environments
- Practical engineering knowledge (e.g., valves, fittings, instrumentation)
- Experience maintaining laboratory or pilot equipment
