We are looking for an experienced CNC Turning Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team in Irlam, Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled machinist who takes pride in producing high-quality, precision components and enjoys working in a technically demanding manufacturing environment.

The Role

You'll be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines, producing components accurately and efficiently to engineering drawings and tight tolerances. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Programming and editing ISO CNC programs
  • Setting tooling, offsets
  • Proving and inspecting first-off components
  • Selecting the right tooling and inserts for each application
  • Troubleshooting machining and quality issues
  • Maintaining high standards of quality and production
  • Supporting continuous improvement and process efficiency
  • Working safely and maintaining accurate production records

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in CNC turning
  • Able to read, understand and edit ISO programs
  • Confident interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
  • A strong technical problem solver
  • Detail-focused and committed to quality
  • Organised with good communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team

Experience with live tooling and sub-spindles would be an advantage, as would CMM experience and knowledge of machining PTFE. A time-served apprenticeship or minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience is required. An HNC/HND in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering would be preferred.

Location: Irlam, Manchester
Hours: 39 hours per week
Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Friday: 7:30am – 3:00pm
