The role will manage engineering, procurement, construction, commercial, and stakeholder activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with contractual, regulatory, quality, and health & safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects from Final Investment Decision (FID) through to Commercial Operation Date (COD) and handover to Operations.

  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

  • Liaise with local authorities, utilities, landowners, contractors, suppliers, and other relevant stakeholders to support successful project delivery.

  • Manage the procurement of long-lead equipment, including tendering, evaluation, contract negotiation, and delivery management.

  • Coordinate with the wider project team to ensure planning conditions, permits, and regulatory requirements are discharged in a timely manner.

  • Lead the tendering, negotiation, award, and management of EPC, ICP, and other key project contracts.

  • Supervise and manage EPC contractors, ICPs, and key suppliers during construction and commissioning activities.

  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, schedules, risks, and change control processes throughout the delivery phase.

  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual, technical, quality, and HSE requirements.

  • Prepare and present regular progress, commercial, schedule, and risk reports to project and senior management teams.

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with UK HSE legislation, CDM Regulations, and company policies.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in construction project management, ideally within the solar, battery storage, or wider renewable energy sector.

  • Proven track record delivering utility-scale solar projects from construction through to commissioning and handover.

  • Experience managing EPC, ICP, and other construction contractors throughout all project phases.

  • Strong commercial awareness with experience administering and negotiating contracts under NEC3/NEC4, FIDIC, or similar frameworks.

  • Demonstrable experience managing project budgets, schedules, risks, and stakeholder interfaces.

  • Project management qualification such as PRINCE2, APMP, PMP, or equivalent.

  • SMSTS, NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent health and safety qualification.

  • Degree qualification in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is desirable.

  • Previous experience working for an EPC contractor, renewable energy developer, or major infrastructure organisation would be advantageous.

  • Knowledge of battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid connections, and DNO/Transmission interfaces is desirable.
