Role Outline: To perform a wide variety of fault diagnosis/repair tasks on Thermal Optical Measurement Equipment in order to reduce on hand faulty material and drive systematic process improvements. We’re seeking a technically minded individual to join our production team, providing hands‑on technical support for optical and non‑contact thermal measurement equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mathematics and physics, excellent IT skills, and the ability to understand and apply calibration processes to diagnose, adjust, and repair precision temperature instruments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • To test and repair a wide variety of Fluke equipment to ensure adherence to defined specifications and quality standards.
  • As required by the Production Team Leader, to assess/sign calibration certificates for defined products.
  • Responsible to adherence to defined processes in assigned work area, including but not limited to Standard Work Instructions, 5S Standards, Safe Systems of Work or Engineering Drawings.
  • As appropriate, to train fellow Operatives/Technicians on defined processes as requested by the relevant Production Team Leader.
  • Take part in the complex diagnosis and rework of Fluke product down to component level and record and/or escalates fault(s) to Team Leaders/Manufacturing Engineering/Metrology/Quality Engineer(s) as required.
  • Suggest and/or implement process/product improvements using the FBS (Fortive Business System) toolset in order to improve operating KPI’s such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and Cost.
  • As required, partake in the creation, review and implementation of new procedures/work instructions, including suggesting improvements to currently issued procedures for both current and new products.
  • As required and communicated by the Production Team Leader(s), take part in the diagnosis, root cause analysis & repair of customer DOA (Defective on Arrival) returns and loading into the specified Fluke system(s) in order to participate in improving the customer experience.

FBS Activities:

  • A portion of time may be spent attending required meetings, trainings, 1:1 reviews, and performance appraisal reviews as communicated by the Production Team Leader.
  • The business may require you to actively participate in continuous improvement events (Kaizens) or other applicable events which will be communicated to you from time to time.
  • The business may require you to actively participate in daily management meetings to report out achieved results and manage business expectations.

Position Scope:

  • Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review.
  • Interacts daily with fellow Assembly Operatives and/or Manufacturing/Calibration Technician(s).
  • Interaction normally involves exchange/movement of Fluke product but may include quality feedback to Operatives as found during fault diagnosis.
  • Interacts daily with the Production Team Leader as required to define priorities and escalates issues as required for the proper performance of the role.
  • Interacts as required with other members of the Fluke Management team, however primary management contact will remain with the immediate Team Leader.
  • Interacts with Engineering/Metrology groups as required in order to ensure systems/instruments comply with provided specifications.

Equipment Maintenance:

A portion of time may be spent on maintenance/calibration/measuring of manufacturing equipment as defined by the Production Team Leader, including but not limited to EHV High Voltage (>40kV testers), testing jigs/equipment and ESD furnishings, subject to appropriate training & authorizations.

  • Knowledge of electrical components and circuitry behaviour

  • PC Literacy including Microsoft Office, especially Excel & Microsoft Access
  • Physics & Optical theory understanding
