Our client is an established premium drinks business delivering high-quality drinks to consumers worldwide. Following continued success in the UK market, our client requires a Managing Director to strategically direct the next phase of growth across all sales channels.

As Managing Director, you will be the driving force behind profitable growth and On & Off trade channel expansion. You’ll lead with vision, shaping strategies that align with global objectives while adapting to the unique dynamics of the local market. Your leadership will foster exceptional customer relationships, promote operational excellence, and drive a high-performing team culture to ensure long-term success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement an exceptional UK market strategy to drive revenue, expand market share, and maximize profitability.
  • Ensure alignment with global and regional commercial strategies while tailoring approaches for local market success.
  • Drive an ambitious local growth agenda.
  • Oversee all internal operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead & manage financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L accountability, to ensure sustainable growth.
  • Mentor, inspire and develop a high-performing sales, marketing, and operations team.
  • Foster an energetic culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion diversity, inclusion, and a strong organisational culture based on trust and responsibility.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, customers, partners, and investors.
  • Promote sustainable practices and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Key Skill Requirements

  • Proven executive leadership experience – Several years of experience in a senior leadership role, ideally as managing director, general manager, or commercial director in an established drinks business, ideally in wine or spirits. Drinks market exposure is vital.
  • Strong Strategic ability – to deliver growth and enhance all aspects of business operations.
  • Strong commercial acumen – Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and managing P&L.
  • Market expertise – Deep understanding of the UK drinks market, its challenges, and opportunities, with a strong network of industry contacts.
  • Exceptional people leadership – Track record of building, leading, and inspiring high-performing teams, fostering a culture of innovation, trust, and accountability.
  • Stakeholder management – Ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders, including investors, partners, and customers.
  • Educated to degree level, ideally WSET qualified level 2 or above.
