We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable & Receivable Manager to lead and develop the full AP and AR functions within a fast-paced, high-volume finance environment. This is a critical role focused on maintaining strong financial controls, optimising cash flow, and supporting international business growth.
The successful candidate will be a proactive, commercially minded finance professional with strong leadership capability and a hands-on approach.
The Role
You will take ownership of end-to-end Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations, ensuring timely cash collection, accurate payments, effective credit control, and strong supplier and customer relationships.
Key objectives include:
- Optimising company cash flow and reducing debtor days
- Ensuring accurate, timely processing of payments and receipts
- Managing credit risk and protecting the business from bad debt exposure
- Supporting operational scalability and international growth
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable & Credit Control
- Lead and manage the Credit Control function in a high-volume environment
- Open new customer accounts, conducting KYC, credit checks, and risk assessments
- Set and regularly review credit limits and risk categories in line with policy
- Monitor open orders to identify risks relating to credit limits, credit holds, and overdue balances
- Drive daily, weekly, and monthly cash collection activities
- Proactively manage domestic and international customer debt exposure
- Maintain regular communication with customers to ensure timely payment
- Issue statements, reminder letters, and follow-up communications
- Escalate high-risk accounts and implement payment plans where required
- Reduce debtor days and improve cash conversion
Reporting & Ledger Management
- Maintain and reconcile the sales ledger, including cash allocation and credit notes
- Ensure receipts via bank, card, and cash are posted accurately and promptly
- Produce monthly aged debtor reports highlighting risks and delays
- Conduct regular reviews of debtor health and action plans
- Prepare and bank cheque deposits where required
Oversee the end-to-end Accounts Payable function
- Ensure accurate processing, coding, and approval of supplier invoices
- Manage weekly and monthly payment runs in line with agreed terms
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve queries
- Manage AP month-end close processes and ensure ledger accuracy
- Oversee FX purchasing for supplier payments in multiple currencies
- Work closely with Procurement and Operations to ensure smooth invoicing and purchasing processes
Cashflow & Payments
- Take responsibility for daily cash flow management and liquidity planning
- Prepare and process supplier and payroll payments
- Support cashflow forecasting and scenario planning
- Manage international payments and optimise FX rates
- Support banking, treasury, credit card, and cash-related activities as the business scales
Additional Responsibilities
- Support VAT reporting, payroll-related payments and journals
- Identify and implement process improvements across AP and AR
- Contribute to the finance system and ERP enhancements
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 yearsβ experience in Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, and/or AP leadership
- Strong understanding of credit management and cashflow principles
- Experience working in high-volume, fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Advanced Excel skills (including lookups, pivot tables, and data analysis)
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work under pressure
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members
- Experience with Tier 1 ERP systems, ideally Tropos, Kinetic, or similar platforms
Stakeholder Collaboration
The role requires close collaboration with teams outside of finance, including Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Procurement, Sales and Customer Service, External customers, distributors, suppliers, and service providers.
