Senior Project Engineer
The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the successful engineering execution of EPC turnkey projects across the EMEA region.
This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual, technical, and quality requirements.
The position serves as a key interface between internal engineering teams, external partners, subcontractors, procurement, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage external engineering firms, subcontractors, and internal engineering disciplines, including civil, electrical, network, and permitting teams, to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet contractual requirements, are constructible, and consider country-specific and regional design, regulatory, and cost impacts.
- Lead internal and external design review meetings and ensure compliance with Fluence’s quality management processes and ISO 9001 standards.
- Drive value engineering initiatives and promote innovative approaches to improve system design, constructability, efficiency, and project outcomes.
- Support procurement activities by developing construction and electrical equipment specifications and conducting technical evaluations of vendor and subcontractor proposals.
- Review internal and subcontractor designs to verify compliance with project requirements, applicable standards, and contractual obligations.
- Take full technical responsibility for assigned EPC turnkey projects, including medium- and high-voltage systems.
- Manage technical escalations and provide effective resolution to engineering and execution challenges.
- Execute projects in alignment with Fluence safety requirements and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes, procedures, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Travel throughout the EMEA region as required to support project execution and stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Additional technical certifications or specialized engineering training are considered an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and execution of utility‑scale power systems, photovoltaic (PV) plants, battery energy storage systems (BESS), or similar energy infrastructure projects within the EMEA region.
- Strong expertise in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects involving high‑voltage systems, renewable energy, or conventional power generation.
- Excellent technical understanding of complex energy projects and engineering principles.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Solution‑oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proven experience coordinating complex projects involving multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluency in English is required; German and/or additional European languages are advantageous.
- Required Certifications
- Completion of Fluence safety training programs.
- International travel health certifications, where required for business travel to specific countries.
