FLSmidth is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Technical Advisor to join our Site Services and Shutdown team based in Welshpool, WA. This role has been created to support continued growth and increasing customer demand across our service operations.

As a Technical Advisor, you will play a key role overseeing mechanical service, shutdown maintenance, inspections, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical support on OEM fixed plant equipment across customer sites. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical capability, customer engagement skills, and the ability to lead crews during shutdowns and field service activities. Extensive travel, including international travel at times, will be required.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead and coordinate field service, shutdown, commissioning, and maintenance activities on OEM equipment.
  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, testing, and troubleshooting of complex mechanical systems.
  • Support customers with technical advisory services and maintenance planning.
  • Supervise and mentor site personnel and contractors during shutdown and commissioning activities.
  • Interpret technical drawings and schematics to support field execution.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all activities.
  • Build strong customer relationships and identify opportunities for equipment upgrades and improvements.

What you bring:

  • Mechanical Fitter, Machinist, or similar trade qualification.
  • Experience working with fixed plant mining equipment in heavy industry environments.
  • Technical advisory experience across OEM equipment such as crushers, mills, screens, thickeners, flotation cells, reclaimers, stackers, belt filters, or similar.
  • Strong shutdown and commissioning experience within mining operations.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience in field service environments.
  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong customer communication and relationship management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
  • Intermediate computer skills and ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Hard rock mining experience highly regarded.
