As Senior Project Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering secure, reliable infrastructure projects for our customers across network, security, virtualisation, Microsoft cloud, core infrastructure, and Citrix technologies, including DaaS, CVAD and NetScaler, implemented to a high standard with clear documentation and handover.
Within this hybrid role, you will lead end-to-end delivery of customer infrastructure projects, working remotely or on-site as required, managing relationships with customers, internal teams, and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle. Our ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience, a structured approach to delivery, and be a strong communicator.
Key responsibilities- Deliver projects from an agreed scope and design: build, configure, migrate, test, cutover, and hand over to support.
- Produce and maintain implementation plans, change requests, risk/impact notes, and rollback plans.
- Lead technical implementation on site and remotely, coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and customer contacts.
- Configure and troubleshoot switching (Cisco/Dell/Juniper/Meraki): VLANs, trunks, STP, LACP, basic routing, cutovers.
- Implement FortiGate changes (policy/NAT/VPN/HA where required) and support firewall cutovers and validation.
- Implement and support VMware and Hyper-V work: host builds, cluster tasks, migrations, networking and storage integration.
- Deliver Azure and Microsoft 365 implementation tasks as per project runbooks (connectivity, identity integration, migrations).
- Implement Intune policies, enrolment, app deployment and compliance configurations as defined.
- Configure and support Mimecast changes (connectors, policies, mail-flow validation, reporting).
- Deliver Windows Server and Active Directory tasks (AD DS, DNS, DHCP, GPO changes, RBAC) as per change control.
- Work with SAN/NAS storage: provisioning, presentation/mapping, health checks, and performance troubleshooting.
- Deliver Citrix DaaS / CVAD implementation work: machine catalogues, delivery groups, policies, upgrades/migrations and testing.
- Implement and support NetScaler / Citrix ADC: Gateway config, certificates, authentication integrations (MFA/SSO as provided), troubleshooting.
- Create clear as-built documentation and handover packs; support early-life after go-live.
You should be confident implementing and supporting most of the below:
- Citrix: Citrix DaaS and/or CVAD; NetScaler/Citrix ADC (Gateway, certs, auth flows, troubleshooting)
- Switching: Cisco, Dell, Juniper, Meraki (VLANs/trunks/STP/LACP, cutovers, fault finding)
- Virtualisation: VMware vSphere and Hyper-V (builds, migrations, troubleshooting)
- Cloud: Azure and Microsoft 365 (implementation and migration tasks; identity/connectivity basics)
- Microsoft core: Windows Server and Active Directory (DNS/DHCP/GPO/RBAC)
- Storage: SAN/NAS provisioning and troubleshooting
- Calm under pressure during cutovers and incident-style troubleshooting.
- Customer-facing professionalism and clear written updates.
- Able to work across multiple projects and prioritise effectively.
- Fortinet / Microsoft / VMware / Citrix / Cisco/Juniper certifications (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in an MSP/project delivery environment with multiple customer estates.
- Familiarity with DR/backup concepts and operational handover into support teams.
