Build something of your own — with the backing of an established industry leader. This isn't a traditional Branch Manager role. We're opening a new Thorite branch in Skelmersdale, and we're looking for a commercially driven, technically credible person who wants more than simply managing an existing operation. You'll have the opportunity to build the customer base, grow sales, shape the local strategy and, as the branch develops, build a team around you. Think of it as the opportunity to run and grow your own business — without taking on the risk of starting one yourself. You'll have genuine autonomy, but you won't be doing it alone. Thorite is part of Flowtech, one of the UK's leading suppliers of technical fluid power and engineering solutions, and you'll have the support, infrastructure and expertise of the wider business behind you.
What makes this different? You'll be one of the key people responsible for getting this new branch off the ground. That means you'll have the freedom to:
- Identify where the biggest local opportunities are
- Get out and meet new and existing customers
- Build relationships with engineering and industrial businesses
- Win new accounts and grow existing spend
- Develop your own sales pipeline and local strategy
- Shape how the branch develops
- Recruit and build a sales team as the business grows
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys creating momentum, winning business and seeing the direct results of their efforts. One day you could be visiting a new customer and identifying a significant opportunity. The next, you'll be working with the team to solve a technical challenge, developing a major account or planning the next stage of growth for the branch. No two days will look exactly the same.
Who are we looking for? You don't necessarily need to be an existing Branch Manager. What's important is that you're commercially minded, comfortable winning new business and credible when talking to the technical and engineering customers. You'll ideally have experience within pneumatics, compressed air, fluid power or another technical engineering or industrial sales environment.
We're looking for someone who:
- Likes being out with customers
- Understands how to grow a business
- Has technical credibility
- Wants genuine ownership
- Has the potential to lead
A full UK driving licence is essential. Experience in pneumatics, compressed air, fluid power or a related engineering sector would be highly beneficial. Previous leadership, branch management, stock or supplier management experience would also be advantageous — but we're equally interested in ambitious technical salespeople ready to take the next step.
What you'll be responsible for Your focus will be on growing a successful and profitable branch. This will include:
- Developing new business across the local territory
- Managing and growing existing customer relationships
- Visiting customers and identifying new opportunities
- Preparing quotations and following opportunities through to order
- Driving sales growth, margin and profitability
- Providing technical product advice and solutions
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the branch
- Working with suppliers and managing stock
- Developing the local sales and growth strategy
- Recruiting and leading additional sales colleagues as the branch expands
Why join Thorite? Thorite is part of Flowtech, giving you the opportunity to combine the excitement and autonomy of building something new with the backing of an established engineering group. You'll receive:
- Company car
- Performance-related bonus and commission opportunities
- 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays
- The autonomy to build and shape a new branch
- Support from the wider Flowtech and Thorite business
- The opportunity to build and lead your own team
- Genuine long-term career development within a growing organisation
This could be your branch. If you're currently successful in technical or industrial sales and feel ready for more ownership, more responsibility and the opportunity to build something you can genuinely call your own, we'd like to hear from you.
