About the Company

Our client is a well-established international company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and servicing of industrial machinery. They support their customers throughout the full lifecycle of their equipment, from installation to after-sales service. With a strong and growing customer base in the UK—particularly around the Midlands—they are now looking to hire their first locally based Field Service Engineer. You will be supported by an experienced service team based in Belgium, ensuring you are never on your own technically.

Role Overview

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial equipment at customer sites across the UK. This is a hands-on, autonomous role where you will take ownership of your work while benefiting from strong remote support and structured training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation, commissioning, and testing of industrial machinery
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues
  • Providing excellent on-site customer support
  • Reporting and documentation of service activities
  • Close collaboration with the European service team
  • Participation in training programs in Belgium and Germany (especially during onboarding phase)

Industry Exposure

Around 70% of your work will be within the cement industry. The remaining 25%+ involves other bulk materials and powder processing environments (e.g. food and industrial production). While prior experience in these sectors is a plus, it is not essential. What matters most is strong technical skills and a willingness to work in industrial environments.

Working Environment

This role involves working in heavy industrial settings, where exposure to dust and powder is part of the day-to-day environment—particularly in cement plants. The company ensures proper equipment, training, and safety standards are in place, and they are looking for candidates who are comfortable in this type of setting.

Location

Ideally based in the centre of the UK or anywhere in England that allows for easy nationwide travel. A location within or near the Greater Birmingham area is particularly advantageous, as a significant number of customers are concentrated in this region.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Field Service Engineer or similar role
  • Strong technical background in:
  • Mechanical systems
  • Electrical and electronic systems
  • Autonomous, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset
  • Comfortable working on-site and travelling regularly
  • Based in or near the Birmingham area (ideal due to customer proximity)
  • Fluency in English required
  • What’s on Offer

    • Competitive salary based on experience
    • Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate
    • Fully equipped company van (personal use allowed)
    • 25 days paid holiday
    • Pension scheme:
    • 5% employee contribution
    • 3% employer contribution
  • 6-month probation period
  • Structured onboarding and technical training in Belgium and Germany
  • Opportunity to join a growing international business with strong technical expertise
  • This is a great opportunity for a technically strong engineer who enjoys hands-on work, autonomy, and varied industrial environments, and who wants to be part of building a local presence within a well-established international company.
