As one of the UK's fastest-growing marketing services businesses, we work with exciting B2B brands and have ambitious plans for continued growth. With teams across the UK and Europe, we need accurate, timely and insightful financial information to support strong decision-making across the business.
We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded Finance Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day finance function on a part-time basis, working two and half days per week.
This is a hands-on role combining monthly reporting, forecasting, budgeting and core financial control. You'll work closely with the leadership team and key stakeholders, ensuring the business has clear visibility over performance, cash flow and future financial requirements.
About You
You're a qualified finance professional who is equally comfortable producing detailed management accounts and translating the numbers into clear commercial insight for non-finance stakeholders.
You have strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail and a practical approach to improving financial processes. You can work independently, manage competing deadlines and confidently challenge or support stakeholders when required.
You'll enjoy operating in a fast-paced, growing business where priorities can evolve quickly and where your work will have a direct impact on business planning and decision-making.
What You'll Be Doing
- Producing accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including detailed profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
- Preparing and maintaining rolling forecasts across the profit and loss account, balance sheet and cash flow.
- Working with key stakeholders to develop annual budgets
- Completing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, including accrued income, deferred income, prepayments, accruals, payroll balances and intercompany accounts.
- Preparing monthly commentary and performance analysis, highlighting key trends, risks, opportunities and recommended actions.
- Completing credit card, bank and other financial control account reconciliations.
- Managing accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, including debtor follow-up, supplier payment runs and cash collection.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Managing the monthly payroll process
- Supporting year-end accounts
- Maintaining and improving finance processes, reporting tools, controls and documentation as the business continues to scale.
- Providing ad hoc financial analysis and commercial support to the leadership team and departmental heads.
What We're Looking For
- A qualified certified accountant or QBE
- Strong experience producing monthly management accounts and full financial reporting packs.
- Demonstrable experience preparing integrated profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow forecasts.
- Strong knowledge of balance sheet accounting, revenue recognition, accruals, prepayments and deferred income.
- Practical experience managing VAT returns, payroll, receivables and payables.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, with the ability to build and maintain clear financial models.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Highly organised, accurate and able to deliver consistently against monthly deadlines.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of the finance function within a growing SME.
- Experience in a service-based, agency, SaaS or high-growth business would be an advantage.
- Experience using Xero and related finance systems would be highly desirable.
- Part-time position working two and a half days a week. Ideally Monday, Tuesday and half day Thursday.
- Working pattern can be agreed based on the needs of the successful candidate and the business, with availability required around month-end, payroll and key reporting deadlines.
- WFH can be offered full-time, but 1 day per month in the Manchester office would be ideal.
- The role will report directly to the COO.
Why us?
- Remote but must visit the Manchester office one day a month
- Opportunities to work in different countries with travel paid for!
- Handsome commission structure
- Christmas shutdown period on top of your annual leave allowance
