JOB PURPOSE
To join a team offering a comprehensive residential service for young people with learning disabilities and associated challenging behaviour aged between 10-18 years, ensuring their physical, social, and emotional care and development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Join a team of residential care staff ensuring safe and appropriate care practices are maintained.
- Support the Manager in all aspects of the home’s operation while maintaining positive childcare practice.
- Provide a safe, warm, and supportive environment for residents, involved in planning and organisation.
- Maintain a regular recording system for each young person, assist in care plans, and publish reports when required.
- Attend review and planning meetings as necessary.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and review of service policy.
- Ensure care staff conduct themselves within the guidelines of the home in line with policy documents and care plans.
- Delegate tasks to residential care staff and co-ordinate daily routines, participating in household duties such as cooking, cleaning, and gardening.
- Participate in general activities of the home such as cycling, swimming, walking, and playing games, using personal skills to maximise opportunities for each resident.
- Attend regular supervision sessions, staff meetings, and training sessions as required.
- Accept responsibility for any required finances in carrying out duties.
- Administer medication to children as required and complete all related paperwork and records.
- Undertake sleeping-in duties as required.
- Comply with and adhere to the policies, procedures, and practices of the home, responding to emergencies as they arise.
- Provide a positive role model for colleagues and the young people resident.
