Job Outline

  • Responsible for shaping and delivering the residential homes and managing the team.
  • Support children aged from 8 to 18 years old with complex behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties.
  • Provide high-quality care services and advocate for residents' wellbeing.
  • Provide strong, motivational leadership to staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage referrals into the service and maintain full occupancy.
  • Produce a development plan ensuring high-quality, clinically informed practice.
  • Ensure clinical practices and medication processes comply with legislation.
  • Employ safe working practices in accordance with Health and Safety at Work legislation.
  • Assess and regularly review the risk and needs of all children and young people in residence.
  • Provide high-quality support and transition services in line with service specifications.
  • Demonstrate professional ethics and behaviour by all staff.
  • Co-ordinate service provision and support staff with advice and coaching.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment; ensure the building is well-maintained.
  • Liaise with regulatory organisations regarding home management.
  • Adhere to financial and administrative procedures within a set budget.
  • Safeguard children and young people through sound management strategies and compliance with safeguarding procedures.
  • Support staff to achieve the highest standards of care.
  • Assist in the management, appraisal, supervision, and support of residential staff.
  • Co-ordinate and monitor casework and administrative functions, including rotas.
  • Ensure compliance with legislations, standards, and guidance.

Job Requirements

  • Essential qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, Children & Young People’s Services, or equivalent, or willingness to undertake training within 6 months.
  • At least two years’ experience relevant to residential care within the last five years.
  • At least one year of experience supervising and managing professional staff.
  • Sound knowledge of Children Homes regulation, Quality Standards 2015, and related legislation.
