- What the hiring manager says
“This is a pivotal role within IT Business Engagement, designed for someone ready to operate as a senior, trusted technology partner to the business and leadership team.
As a Senior IT Business Partner, you will shape how GSMA defines, prioritises, and delivers technology‑enabled change.
You will work closely with Executive Leadership and senior stakeholders to translate strategic ambition into practical, scalable digital solutions, while also mentoring and strengthening the wider partnering team.
This role requires strong judgment, commercial awareness, and the confidence to influence at all levels, combined with a passion for delivering tangible outcomes through technology.” — David Cook, Head of IT Business Engagement
About the Team
The IT Business Engagement team is the primary interface between GSMA and IT, responsible for ensuring technology investment is aligned to organisational priorities and delivers measurable value.
As the function matures, the team is increasingly focused on demand management, portfolio oversight, and enabling long‑term digital strategy rather than solely project delivery.
The Senior IT Business Partner plays a key leadership role within the team — acting as a role model for best practice, supporting capability development, and helping to define how business partnering operates across GSMA.
About the Role
- Own senior stakeholder relationships and act as a strategic advisor on how technology can enable business objectives.
Lead the definition and management of IT demand across multiple initiatives, ensuring clarity of scope, priority, and value, while working closely with IT delivery teams and key vendors.
- Take accountability for shaping and assessing business cases, overseeing budgets and delivery timelines, managing risks and dependencies, and ensuring effective escalation and decision‑making at the right level.
Collaborate with Legal and Procurement to assess and define enterprise IT toolsets and vendor approaches that support evolving business needs.
- Play an active leadership role within IT Business Engagement — mentoring other Business Partners, embedding best practice, and helping evolve demand management, portfolio governance, and stakeholder engagement models.
Within your first year, you will be expected to
- Establish strong partnerships with Executive Leadership and senior stakeholders.
- Lead the effective management of the IT demand pipeline.
- Influence the direction of GSMA’s digital and platform strategy.
- Strengthen consistency and maturity across the Business Partnering community.
About You
- Confident, credible technology partner comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels.
- Brings structure to complex environments, balances competing priorities, and uses judgement to drive the right outcomes rather than simply deliver activity.
- Enjoys coaching and supporting others, commercially aware, and motivated by improving how organisations make decisions about technology.
- Combines curiosity and innovation with pragmatism and delivery focus.
- You will bring demonstrable ability to
- Define and manage complex IT demand, scope, and prioritisation across multiple initiatives.
- Engage effectively with Executive Leadership Teams to shape digital strategies and investment decisions.
- Translate business ambition into robust, scalable IT solutions and platforms.
- Manage budgets, risks, timelines, and dependencies across concurrent delivery streams.
- Partner with internal teams and global vendors to deliver consistent, high‑quality outcomes.
- Mentor and guide other IT Business Partners in effective stakeholder management and delivery practice.
- Maintain an “over‑the‑horizon” view of technology, identifying opportunities for innovation and simplification.
- Technical and domain capability
- Strong experience delivering enterprise IT, digital transformation, and data‑driven initiatives.
- Deep understanding of modern application landscapes and cloud‑based platforms.
- Demonstrable experience working with platforms such as Salesforce, Workday, Microsoft 365, Asana, and similar enterprise tools.

- Exposure to the mobile and telecommunications industry is advantageous.
- Core GSMA skills
