Flourish Education is currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a lovely and supportive primary school in Worcester, working within their Reception class. This is a full‑time position, starting in January, offering a long‑term opportunity for an experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting pupils in the classroom, with good knowledge of phonic schemes and the early years framework.

Key Responsibilities for this Reception Teaching Assistant role:

  • Support teaching and learning within the Reception classroom.
  • Lead and deliver small group and intervention sessions, particularly for English and Maths.
  • Work with pupils of varying abilities, including those who may require additional support.
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain high expectations.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with pupils, staff, and parents where appropriate.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to support planning, assessment, and pupil progress.

To be successful as a Reception Teaching Assistant, you will need:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally in an early years setting.
  • Experience supporting phonics intervention sessions.
  • Confidence working with small groups to raise attainment.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
  • A DBS on the Update Service or issued within the last 12 months.
  • Two professional references that confirm relevant experience in a similar role.
