Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 Teacher looking for a full‑time teaching role from September? Flourish Education are working in partnership with a welcoming Primary School in Wednesbury, seeking a dedicated Year 6 Teacher to cover a maternity leave on a long‑term basis. This full‑time teaching position includes full class teacher responsibilities and offers an excellent opportunity to teach an established Year 6 class within a supportive Key Stage 2 team. The school is looking for a confident and experienced practitioner who can deliver engaging lessons, prepare pupils for the transition to secondary school, and maintain high standards of teaching and learning throughout the academic year.
As part of the Key Stage 2 team you will work closely alongside other KS2 teachers, sharing ideas, planning collaboratively, and ensuring consistency across the phase. The leadership team is highly supportive and committed to providing a positive working environment where staff can thrive.
Responsibilities- Taking full responsibility for a Year 6 class, including planning, preparation, marking, assessment and reporting.
- Delivering engaging and challenging lessons in line with the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
- Preparing pupils effectively for end‑of‑year assessments and the transition to secondary school.
- Using assessment data effectively to monitor progress and identify next steps for learning.
- Differentiating learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including those requiring additional support or challenge.
- Creating a positive and structured classroom environment that promotes high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
- Working collaboratively with other Key Stage 2 teachers to ensure consistency in planning, assessment and curriculum delivery.
- Building positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- Attending staff meetings, parents’ evenings and contributing to the wider life of the school.
- Maintaining accurate records and providing regular feedback on pupil progress.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Previous experience teaching within Key Stage 2, ideally Upper Key Stage 2.
- A secure understanding of the Year 6 curriculum and assessment requirements.
- Experience preparing pupils for SATs and supporting them through the transition to secondary education.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- The ability to plan, deliver and assess engaging lessons that promote progress for all pupils.
- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- A DBS on the Update Service or issued within the last 12 months.
- A minimum of two excellent professional references.
- Competitive salary of up to £223.62 per day (equivalent to £45,240 based on experience).
