Are you an experienced and compassionate SENCO looking for a rewarding full‑time opportunity starting in September? A welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Wednesbury is seeking a dedicated SENCO to join their team on a full‑time basis from September. The school is also open to considering part‑time arrangements for the right candidate. This is a non‑teaching SENCO position, offering an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive professional who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and working collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies to ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.
The school currently supports 130 pupils with SEND needs, including 30 pupils with EHCPs. They also have a dedicated SEND Hub for pupils with complex needs, staffed by a supportive team of 4–5 experienced staff members. This SENCO role is initially until the end of the autumn term, with plans to extend into a temp‑to‑perm opportunity for the successful candidate. The school is also hoping to arrange a transition period during the summer term to support a smooth handover into the role.
Responsibilities- Leading and managing SEND provision across the school
- Supporting pupils with EHCPs and overseeing annual reviews and documentation
- Working closely with teaching staff to ensure appropriate support and interventions are in place
- Liaising with parents, carers, external agencies, and local authorities
- Monitoring pupil progress and ensuring SEND provision is effective and inclusive
- Supporting the SEND Hub provision for pupils with complex needs
- Providing guidance and support to staff around SEND strategies and best practice
- Ensuring the school remains compliant with SEND legislation and statutory requirements
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- The National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or willingness to work towards it
- Previous experience working within a Primary School SEND setting
- Strong knowledge of EHCP processes and SEND legislation
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- The ability to lead, support, and collaborate effectively with staff and external professionals

- Pay to scale, with rates starting from £170 per day
