Flourish Education are currently recruiting Science Graduates to work as Teaching Assistants, Science Intervention Tutors and Cover Supervisors within secondary schools across Warwick and the surrounding areas. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Science Graduate to gain hands-on experience within secondary education while helping pupils develop their knowledge, confidence and interest in Science.
With part-time, flexible, long-term and day-to-day opportunities available, the role can suit graduates with a range of availability. You could support pupils on a one-to-one basis, work with small groups or deliver targeted Science interventions. There may also be opportunities to support GCSE revision and booster sessions, helping pupils prepare for their exams across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. There may also be opportunities to undertake whole-class cover as a Cover Supervisor, giving you further classroom experience and helping you develop your behaviour management, communication and lesson delivery skills.
The role will involve:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group Science support
- Supporting pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
- Delivering targeted Science interventions
- Supporting GCSE Science revision and booster sessions
- Supporting pupils across Biology, Chemistry and Physics where appropriate
- Helping pupils develop confidence in Science
- Supporting practical and classroom-based learning
- Helping pupils prepare for GCSE examinations
- Supporting pupils with SEN and additional learning needs
- Breaking down scientific concepts into accessible explanations
- Working alongside Science teachers and wider school staff
- Building positive and professional relationships with pupils
- Supporting classroom learning and providing whole-class cover where required
Required Skills and Experience for this Science Graduate Teaching Assistant role:
- Science degree or related subject
- Strong subject knowledge in Science
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable
- UK school experience is desirable
- Experience supporting KS3 and KS4 pupils
- Ability to explain scientific concepts clearly
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to motivate and engage pupils
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN is desirable
- Positive, patient and enthusiastic approach
- Reliable and flexible approach to work
- An interest in pursuing a career in teaching is desirable
Working for Flourish Education as a Teaching Assistant, you will receive:
- £92.59 to £100 day rate, which equates to approximately £17,340 to £19,500 per annum based on working 5 days a week for a full school year
