Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant passionate about supporting children with additional needs? Flourish Education are working closely with a welcoming Primary School in Stourbridge, who are seeking a dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support in their SEN hub. This is a full-time, long-term position, starting after the May half-term, and continuing until July. This position is potentially extending in September for the full academic year.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Year 1 child with complex needs
  • Support the child’s learning, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider SEN team to implement individual support strategies
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
  • Support the child both within the SEN hub and in classroom-based activities where appropriate

Required Skills and Experience for this SEN Teaching Assistant role:

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Previous experience supporting children with complex needs, ideally on a 1:1 basis
  • Confidence in managing and reducing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
  • The ability to build strong, trusting relationships with young children
  • Good knowledge of the Key Stage 1 curriculum
  • A DBS on the update service, or issued within the last 12 months
  • A minimum of two excellent references
