Flourish Education are recruiting for an experienced SEND Teacher to join a Primary School from the end of June on a long-term basis, with the potential for the role to become extended within the school’s SEND classroom provision. The successful candidate will work closely with two experienced additional adults to support pupils with a range of complex communication and learning needs. This role would suit a confident SEND Teacher with strong knowledge of communication and language development and experience working within specialist or enhanced provision settings. The school is looking for a teacher who can confidently support pupils using a range of communication, sensory and regulation approaches that are embedded throughout the provision and referenced within pupils’ EHCPs.
Responsibilities
- Leading teaching and learning within the SEND classroom provision
- Supporting pupils with complex communication and learning needs
- Working closely with support staff and wider school teams
- Delivering personalised and multisensory learning approaches
- Supporting pupils’ communication, emotional regulation and engagement
- Following EHCP targets and school procedures
Required skills and experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Strong understanding of communication and language development
- Experience using visual support systems including visual timetables, symbols, Now and Next boards and communication boards
- Knowledge or experience of Makaton, AAC strategies and Intensive Interaction
- Experience using approaches such as SCERTS, Colourful Semantics, Attention Autism and Zones of Regulation
- Understanding of multisensory teaching approaches and sensory regulation strategies
- Ability to break learning into manageable chunks using repetition and structured support
- Experience supporting pupils with complex SEND needs
