We're recruiting for a SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEN school based in the Droitwich area, supporting pupils from 8 years old through to Further Education. You will work with children and young people with a range of additional needs, including ASD, SLD, and SEMH, supporting both learning and development across the school which has a number of different type of room settings to accommodate the different needs the children have.
The role involves delivering planned lessons, providing class cover, and adapting activities to meet individual needs. You will support pupils through structured routines, positive behaviour strategies, and targeted interventions, while also helping with emotional regulation, engagement, and overall progress. Some aspects of personal care and physical support may be required.

The SEN HLTA Role:- Assist pupils with tasks as needed
- Support with administrative tasks and duties when not providing cover
- Plan, communicate, distribute, and supervise pre-agreed work set by the class teacher
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND, including SLD, SEMH
- Implement strategies to support behaviour, emotional regulation, and individual learning outcomes
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to meet EHCP targets
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
- Support pupils with personal care or physical needs where required
- Promote independence, confidence, and resilience in learners
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in any of the following roles: SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND HLTA, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), HLTA, 1:1 TA, Behaviour Mentor. Experience of working as a Cover Supervisor. Experience working in a special school, PRU, alternative provision or inclusive mainstream school. Strong understanding of SEND, particularly supporting pupils with MLD, ASD. Empathetic, adaptable and resilient approach. Excellent behaviour management strategies. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one). Relevant training such as Team Teach, Makaton or PECS is desirable but not essential.
