Are you an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a part‑time role starting in September? A welcoming Primary School in Malvern is seeking a committed and patient SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child on a 1:1 basis in a Reception classroom from September, through to Christmas. This SEN Teaching Assistant role is a part‑time position, working 4 days per week, providing dedicated support to a child with autism. The child is currently working at a lower level, so a strong understanding of the Early Years curriculum is essential.

In this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will play a vital part in supporting the child’s academic, social, and emotional development, helping them to access learning within a classroom environment. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the child receives consistent and structured support. This school is looking for an experienced, nurturing, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant who has a calm and patient approach and can build strong relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Providing 1:1 support for a pupil with autism within the classroom.
  • Adapting learning activities to meet the child’s individual needs.
  • Supporting the child’s engagement with the Early Years curriculum.
  • Implementing strategies to support communication, behaviour, and emotional regulation.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow support plans.
  • Encouraging independence and confidence in learning.

Qualifications
  • A minimum Level 2 qualification in a relevant field.
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly autism.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Early Years curriculum.
  • A patient, calm, and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
