Are you an experienced Nursery Practitioner looking for a rewarding long‑term opportunity?

A welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Gloucester is seeking a dedicated Nursery Practitioner to join their team full‑time from November on a long‑term basis.

The successful candidate will work within the school's nursery provision, supporting children aged 3–4 years with their learning, development and day‑to‑day experiences. The role will involve working closely with the nursery team to create a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment where children can learn, explore and develop their confidence.

The successful candidate will support children both indoors and outdoors, helping them develop their communication, social, emotional and physical skills while encouraging independence and positive relationships.

As a Nursery Practitioner, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting children aged 3–4 years with their learning and development.
  • Providing high‑quality care and support within the nursery environment.
  • Supporting engaging, age‑appropriate activities based around children's interests and development.
  • Supporting early reading, phonics, communication and language development.
  • Supporting early numeracy through play and structured activities.
  • Encouraging children to participate in outdoor play and exploration.
  • Supporting children's physical development through outdoor activities and play.
  • Developing positive and trusting relationships with children and creating a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Supporting children's individual learning and development needs.
  • Supporting positive behaviour and helping children understand routines and boundaries.
  • Supporting daily routines, including mealtimes, toileting and personal care where required.
  • Helping to maintain a safe, stimulating and well‑organised nursery environment.

To be successful in this Nursery Practitioner role, you will need:

  • Previous experience working within a Nursery, Early Years or Primary School setting.
  • Experience working with children aged 3–4 years is highly desirable.
  • A relevant Early Years qualification such as Level 2 or Level 3 would be advantageous.
  • A strong understanding of Early Years development and the importance of play‑based learning.
  • Experience supporting children's communication, language and early literacy skills.
  • A nurturing, patient and caring approach to working with young children.
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a Nursery and Early Years team.
  • Confidence supporting children's social, emotional and developmental needs.
  • A proactive and creative approach to supporting activities and learning.
  • Confidence supporting children both indoors and outdoors.
  • The ability to remain calm, patient and consistent when working with young children.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
  • A DBS on the update service, or issued within the last 12 months.
  • A minimum of two excellent references.
